DRAGONFLY ENTERTAINMENT GROUP is a production group offering volunteer and premium services to songwriters and musicians. Our main project at this time is the Dragonfly Songwriter Series. We host and produce showcase events for songwriters at venues of many shapes and sizes. We have had great success in highlighting the artistry and musicianship behind songs. Dragonfly Songwriter Showcase
As part of our volunteer services, we also host the DRAGONFLY SONGWRITER SHOWCASE SERIES, by matching artists with venues and coordinating house concerts and other live events as needed. We produce all types of shows, from small, intimate coffee house shows to arena-type shows at large venues, like Garvan Woodland Gardens. We have also assisted with booking at venues like Capi's Restaurant and Town Pump in Little Rock, AR.
Our latest endeavor, "Dragonfly Songwriter Showcase First Thursdays" at The Big Chill in Hot Springs, Arkansas has been very successful, drawing original talent from all over the country. The "First Thursdays" show is now being exclusively booked through our partnership with Reverbnation. Reverbnation offers invaluable tools to artists (many for free!) at very reasonable rates that provide REAL results. One of the newest venues we are working with is Studio Ten in Hot Springs, AR. This warm and intimate acoustic venue is located in the heart of Historic Hot Springs' bathhouse row. We use this room almost exclusively for listening room events where the artist can interact with the audience and add the element of story-telling to the evening of song. Upcoming events for this room include a "Women of Song" show on March 3rd and a "Men of Folk Song" show on April 13th. See details in the calendar below.
Another ongoing event, "Laura Lynn & Friends Second Thursdays at The Loft," is also gaining notoriety in the area. If you are an artist interested in playing the showcase (other than First Thursdays at The Big Chill), please e-mail Rena at renawren@yahoo.com with a direct link to your music online and "BOOKING" in the subject line. At this time we are only accepting submissions from acts with good quality music that we can sample online. Adding high quality video to your site is helpful as well. However, many of our acts have been booked because we have seen them live, so if you don't have online audio, but are playing locally, shoot us your schedule at renawren@yahoo.com and we'll try to catch your show. We only book acts doing original music. You need to have 30-45 minutes of material in order to be placed as an "opening" act. Opening acts typically don't get paid, but can sell merchandise and collect tips during their set. Volunteering to open a show is a GREAT way to meet other writers and learn the market. Headlining acts need to have 2-4 hours of original music, depending on the venue and show structure (some covers can be mixed in at certain venues upon prior approval).
